Climate CEGEP (Climate Emergency Grassroots Education Program) is a youth-led community-based climate education initiative designed to equip marginalized communities with practical skills for climate resilience, survival, and solidarity.

It’s meant to be a space where anyone can come teach or learn climate skills, and build projects with real-world impact.

The Neighbourhood Action Centre is proud to support Climate CEGEP as an independent working group.

Past Programming

Climate CEGEP launched their inaugural semester in Fall 2025.

The curriculum, called Post-Apocalypse 101, blended high-tech solutions (e.g., mesh networks, cryptography) with land-based practices (e.g., urban farming, water systems) and direct action training (e.g., mutual-aid). Weekly workshops were hands-on with theoretical components. The semester concluded with a capstone presentation.

Climate CEGEP is planning to bring more programming and events in 2026. Stay tuned.

Curriculum topics for Fall 2025 include:

  • Urban Guerilla Farming

  • Mushroom Cultivation

  • Water & Electricity Systems (skills for functioning without centralized infrastructure)

  • Radio, Satellites & Mesh Networks (alternative communication systems)

  • Cryptography & Cybersecurity (ensuring secure communications and data protection in an adverse social environment)

  • Mutual Aid & Community Resilience Strategies

  • Capstone Project
